Gerald R. Ralph B.Sc. (Hons), LL.B.

Gerald graduated from GFA High School in Grand Falls-Windsor in 1991, and subsequently completed an honours science degree in Environmental Science from Carleton University. He obtained his law degree from Dalhousie University specializing in marine and environmental law.

Gerald began his legal career in 2001 at the law firm Patterson Palmer in St. John’s. While there, he gained experience in a full range of practice areas but with particular focus on personal injury, litigation, construction law, and the personal legal services of real estate, wills and estates. He also served as a lawyer with the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal between 2002 and 2004.

In 2004 Gerald was employed with the Government of Nunavut and led the legislative review of the Territory’s Public Service Act, and was later retained as an advisor to the Nunavut Government for the review of the Territory’s Education Act. After receiving the highest mark in Nunavut Law Society’s history on the bar exam, he returned to Gander where he joined Easton Hillier Lawrence Preston and practiced for nearly a decade until he decided to venture out on his own. In 2007-2008, Gerald served as corporate counsel to the Humber Valley Resort and broadened his experience to deal with resort law, large scale land development and real estate involving non-residents of Canada.

Gerald has always been known for committing his limitless enthusiasm and knowledge to all his endeavors. Gerald, his wife Sheri and their three children, Jocelyn, Evan and Sawyer call Gander their home. Gerald and his family are extensively involved in the community from assisting his son’s baseball team to helping the Gander Dance Parents Association with their fundraising efforts.

Gerald puts as much enthusiasm and effort into helping his clients solve their problems as he does contributing to his family, whether it is recovering money for injuries, wrongful dismissals, or challenging insurance companies. He started his career 18 years ago working for insurance defence. He knows the system and he likes digging out the truth; especially from those trying to hide it. As any of Gerald’s previous clients can attest, he is not afraid to take the case to court and he actually enjoys the courtroom.

Gerald’s current general practice involves a variety of real-estate and land development, with particular emphasis on subdivision development. In addition, he has an extensive litigation practice with a strong emphasis on personal injury. Gerald is one of Central Newfoundland’s most experience personal injury lawyers and continues to be a result oriented person.
